What makes a leader?

They say, “followers make the leaders.” In politics, it as well means that the leader is not an independent figure and often controlled by the people staying behind him. Those are the people with deep pockets who know how to manage their boss – the leader.

But for the business, I see it as a very positive saying. You can reach the KPI only if you have built the right team to support your beginnings. In the IT people are critical. VCs invest in great startups with great ideas but ultimately they invest in the people.

A strong team with a weak business idea will eventually become a success. Whereas great ideas with a mediocre team will be failures.

Investing in people is investing in the business, and right people should be seen as a revenue center, not as the costs center for the company.
