Some few years ago I did not understand what this phrase means precisely. After all, business is business, and we are all grown up adults making money in our companies. What is the point in all these talks about the culture – just do your job.
It appears there are different ways to do the job, and some are not as effective as others. And this culture thing affects the way we do the business and can seriously influence the effectiveness and performance of the process.
Later on, I discovered that some people just won’t work for you if the culture of your company is not in line with their expectations. You won’t want to hire other people who do not fit your culture as well. Even best professionals will not be contributing if they are not a good fit for your corporate culture.
So this culture is what makes businesses different. Apple has its unique culture; Google has its. Culture exists and influences.
